ISLAMABAD: A children film festival that aims to promote tolerance between communities opens at Cinepax in Rawalpindi on Monday (today).

The third Rose Petal Lahore International Children’s Film Festival is being organized by The Little Art and hopes to bring a fun-filled, visual educational experience to the people of the twin cities.

Initiated in 2008, The Little Art is a nonprofit organization striving to educate children on the importance of harmony and peace through out-of-the-box creativity. Their aim is to expose today’s children to diverse cultures around the world and cultivate values of tolerance and harmony amongst each another. They also aim to promote art as an imperative learning vehicle for children around the country.

So far the organization has screened 350 films in 35 countries; in Pakistan more than 35,000 children have attended their festivals in Lahore and Gilgit-Baltistan.

The festival is packed with back-to-back morning shows for five days for school children. The shows are scheduled from 9:30am onwards till 1.45pm on each day. All shows are suitable for children, who will find entertainment and learning in one big colorful package.

Festival Director Shoaib Iqbal said, “The festival is becoming synonymous … [with] cultivating the young hearts and minds destined to become our future leaders. And we are proud to lead the innovation in arts education in Pakistan.”

The festival will feature 77 films from 26 countries till November 4.
