ArtBeat - National Child Art Competition and Exhibitions
to raise awareness about identity, rights and social justice among children and youth
Dear Teachers, School Administrators, Parents, Children and Young People
ArtBeat – National Child Art Competition and Exhibitions is in its second year now.
The project was initiated in 2012 with a vision to develop understanding of issues among children and young people from their own perspective, celebrate children as artists and present children's view as a point of discourse for adults and community. We worked with children and young adults irrespective of their social and economic background, from school going to street children, with speacial needs or children in shelter homes. The response and the quality of artworks received were astonishing.
In this 2nd edition of 2013 ArtBeat, we want to further build on the interest of children and schools and open up new horizons for them to learn and express through the visual arts.
Through the discourse our team had from the last year on ArtBeat, we strongly felt that children and young people in Pakistan want to talk about themselves. It is important to develop their cognitive skills, relate them to the world they live in and educate them about their rights and responsibilities.
This year's theme is “Me / My Rights”. It is about children and young people. We want to hear from children and youth, their voices, what they think about themselves and the times in which they are living in Pakistan – and share their voices through art with the community.
Children's art, their realization about themselves and rights is the core purpose of this year’s ArtBeat.
