The Paper Pilots: Dylan Parker and James Norton – Inspiring Kids to do what they love
Paper Plane Champions and the inspiration behind the Australian hit family film Paper Planes – Dylan Parker and James Norton founded ‘The Paper Pilots’ in 2008 to educate and inspire students across Australia. They recognize that learning through play is one of the most powerful teaching tools. Using the simple concept of paper planes, The Paper Pilots educate students on the science of flight and encourage students to develop their problem solving skills to design the perfect paper plane. Dylan and James have visited hundreds of schools across Australia and have shared their innovative and inspiring story of success.
Paper Planes is a feel-good Australian family film directed by Robert Connolly and inspired by Dylan Parker and James Norton, ‘The Paper Pilots’. The film deals with themes which resonate with kids, including negotiating with peers, dealing with bullies, being sportsmanlike and dreaming big. The story also poses an important moral question: is success just about winning? It is an uplifting, warm, winning and most of all funny family film. Paper Planes was a box office success in Australia – landing in the top 5 most successful films in Australia in 2015. The film has won a series of awards including ‘Best Original Screenplay’ by the Australian Academy of Cinema, Television and Arts Awards (AACTA).
