Karachi and Lahore International Children's Film Festivals 2014

We are very excited to complete our Festival Season 2014, through which we presented best selected films for children and young people at the cinemas in Karachi and Lahore, a true celebration of some of the best films made for and by children and young people from around the world.

We presented 169 films from 45 countries in 18 days of events, attended by nearly 42,000 children, youth, families, teachers, filmmakers and artists.

See the highlights of the Festival events in Lahore and Karachi, how we received films from 66 countries this year, hosted an Inter-School National Filmmaking Competition and attracted nearly 42,000 children and youth in Pakistan to attend the Festivals.

"The government was committed to promoting activities caring for the youth," said Punjab Education, Culture and Youth Minister Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan.

“These cannot be set aside merely as cultural events. These are informative and educational,” said Asghar Nadeem Syed, head of the Theatre, Film and TV Dept, BNU.

"Cinemas offered popular entertainment. We are living in a difficult environment. Children will suffer the most if there are no such activities," said Cinepax Limited chairman Arif Muhammad Baig.

“We always try to put a check on children’s imagination. This is quite unfortunate,” said Adeel Hashmi, representing the Faiz Foundation Trust.

"The sixth holding of the festival showed the growing popularity of entertainment for children," said Festival director Shoaib Iqbal.
