Honoring Children - Using puppetry to advocate and lobby for the protection and enforcement of child rights
 

The Little Art in collaboration with Group Development Pakistan organized 2nd National Child Rights Arts Festival in Islamabad, from 18th -20th November, 2014 at the Sir Syed Auditorium. This newsletter shares some of the highlights from the event. [Read full report here...]

The Little Art conducted 6 puppetry workshops, on using puppets in engaging children for protection and non-formal education, consisted of 44 days in total with Vision and Sach, two organizations working in child protection and rights in Murree and Islamabad.

The opening event of the festival also included the launch of “Cutputli” by The Little Art – a manual for puppet making for children, teachers and caregivers to use puppetry for child protection.

An exhibition of selected art works created by children expressing their rights and responsibilities was curated and opened to all throughout the festival. Nearly 130 paintings and 11 3D art installations were presented.

Selected best films from Lahore International Children's Film Festival were presented at the Festival on the themes of rights and protection. Such films were made for and about children and young people.

The 3-day event presented 5 plays and short performances from organizations working in child protection and by schools. All the plays had one theme in common, the state of children, their rights and how they see the world they live in.

4 puppet performances were presented in the Festival, by the staff of the organizations working on child rights and protection, by a community school children and by The Little Art.
