Every year The Little Art through its project Lahore International Children’s Film Festival provides opportunities to young students to gain global exposure through the platform of international film festivals. This year we chose 3 young students based on their interest in cinema to attend one of the world’s largest children’s film festivals – Giffoni International Film Festival in Southern Italy.
Over 2,000 children attended the festival from 39 countries around the world and it provided a global experience for the three students from Pakistan while they watched the programming of an international film festival, attended sessions with filmmakers and actors and networked with other young film jurors from around the world.
Here is what our three representatives from Pakistan had to say about their experience

“Getting the opportunity to meet numerous people from all over the world, of or around your age is just one aspect of how positive attending Giffoni Film Festival has been for me. Having the opportunity to ask questions from actors such as Mark Ruffalo, Tom Felton, Orlando bloom was something one can only dream about. I want to thank The Little Art for providing me with this amazing opportunity and believing in me. I got a chance to represent my country Pakistan alongside two other jurors.

I can (hands down) say that the ten days that I spent in Giffoni were one of the best days of my life. I got the chance to meet the most amazing people, creating a friendship so strong in a matter of around two weeks. I got to learn a lot about film making and films in general and I didn’t expect there were such amazing films that you could relate to as a person. I would like to thank The Little Art, my school and my family who made this all possible and I hope I’ll be given the chance to be part of the Giffoni Film Festival in the near future.

Being selected to go to Italy as an international juror for the Giffoni Film Festival was not only one of my most prized achievements but also one of the best experiences of my life. It is something I will hold with me for the rest of my life. On this journey, I got to watch meaningful films that dealt with various social issues such as lifestyles in underprivileged neighborhoods, illegal immigration, and the education system; as well as personal problems most teenagers face such as bullying, depression, and heartbreak. All in all, I can say that this will always be a milestone in my life. I am grateful to Giffoni and The Little Art for selecting me, and my school Beaconhouse ALJT for making me able enough to be selected.
