ARTBEAT 2015 – JURY OF SENIOR ARTISTS
R.M. Naeem
R. M. NAEEM lives and works in Lahore upon completing his BFA in 1993 as a distinction student at the National College of Arts Lahore subsequently held the position of assistant professor at his alma mater. In the past nineteen years, he has held eleven solo shows both in Pakistan and abroad and curated various important shows. In addition his work has been exhibited in numerous important group shows nationally and internationally, including The Asian Art Biennale Dhaka Bangladesh, The International Artists’ Biennale Iran, The Pyeongtack International Art Festival Lake Museum Korea, Art Expo Malaysia 2010, Slick Art Fair Paris 2010 France and in 2011 AAF Affordable Art Fair Singapore, 2012 Art Melbourne, Australia. Other nations that have shown his work various times are India, Oman, Bahrain, Hong Kong, Singapore, UAE, USA, China, UK, Norway, Srilanka and Canada. As an avid participant of art residencies, he has attended Eleven various art camps and residencies abroad over the course of his career. He has also conducted various art counselling workshops. Since 1994 promoting art through art education at his studio STUDIO RM. In 2008 he initiated the Studio RM (International) Residency programme in Lahore. RM Naeem’s work has garnered several scholarships, awards and prizes in Pakistan, including the National Award of Excellence in 2003. His work can be seen in various private and official collections and has been featured in both local and international art publications.
Dr. Shahida Manzoor
Dr. Shahida Manzoor is currently Principal of Punjab University, College of Art & Design. She has been awarded a Phd in Fine Arts from Ohio University where she also taught for 3 years. She received a Gold Medal in M.F.A Painting from Punjab University and has participated in several group exhibitions including All Pakistan National Exhibitions from 1986 till 1997.
As a dedicated art educator at University of Punjab for over 26 years she also continues to supervise other Phd students at the university. She has presented over 30 research papers on comparative and interdisciplinary arts in Ohio, USA. She has been awarded many scholarships for her performance including the Central Overseas Teacher Scholarship from 1997-2001 and acclaimed as the First Pakistani woman to earn Ph.D. degree in Fine Arts from USA.
Sadaf Naeem
Sadaf graduated in Bachelor of Fine Arts, 1st Div. with Honors from National College of Arts, Lahore in 2001. She is a Lecturer at Fine Arts Department of Kinnard College for women, Lahore since 2003. She has been involved in teaching drawing at R.M Studio in Lahore since 2002. Sadaf did her residency at Artist camp at Habarana village, organized by George Kyet Foundation, Colombo, Srilanka in 2002. Her work has been exhibited nationally and internationally including different cities of Pakistan, India, London and Sri Lanka. Her Major awards hold ‘Euphonic Palate’ Organized by Nitanjli art gallery Delhi, at French Centre, Delhi , India in 2006, The Art of Giving, Paintings auction and exhibition at long room, lords cricket ground, London in 2005, Young Voices, paintings Exhibition, Alhamra Art Gallery, Lahore, Pakistan in 2005, Group shows at Lionel Wendt Art Gallery Colombo, Sri Lanka in 2003.
Amina Ansari
Amina Ansari is an award winning British-Asian visual Diaspora artist, who studied at Central Saint Martin’s, London College of Printing in London and National College of Arts in Lahore. She has the honor of having two of her paintings at Windsor Castle’s in a collection to mark Her Majesty the Queen’s Jubilee.
Amina is also the Director of Communications for a charity , in learning ESOL and IT. She is strongly committed to diversity and equality combined with an understanding of many different cultures.
She has had over 6 solo exhibitions in the UK and over 9 group exhibits in UK, Pakistan, USA and Oman. One of her recent work was displayed at Brick Lane Gallery in February 2015, where the likes of Banksy, Wolgang Tillman’s, Bob and Roberta smith and Antti Laitenen have also exhibited. Amina has won many awards and prizes for her noticeable contribution as a young South Asian British female painter who has always tried to speak against violence amongst women and against social injustice.
