Summer Internships
The Little Art Summer Internships are designed for the benefit of students who are interested in working on arts- based projects for children and young people. The primary purpose of the internship program is to provide interested individuals with practical perspectives of different areas of management; project development and successful execution.
The internships are offered to A level/college/university students, who are pursuing courses of study relative to their specific internship area of interest; or show a great passion towards developing their skills in a particular internship area.
We also consider it very important that interns are serious and committed; and consider their work within the internship a significant contribution to the benefit of children and young people of Pakistan and to the cultural arts.
Arts Management Intern
Arts Management intern will work to manage overall programs of the organization, and will be involved across the departments in operational and management capacity. Opting for this internship is best for individuals who are seeking career in the nonprofit sector and are interested in arts based projects.
Specific Tasks:
Conducting internal and external analysis of the organization
Refining processes while identifying gaps and opportunities
A business/marketing major carrying a deep interest in arts
Basic experience in event management
Passion for the arts
Strong communication skills
Social Development Intern
Social Development interns will work on engaging other non-profits working for children and youth in areas like education, health and rehabilitation, to collaborate on projects with The Little Art. A focus of this internship will also be to engage children and young people from public schools, low income and marginalized communities, community centers and hospitals to participate in our existing projects.
Interns will also work on developing new possibilities and projects to work with marginalized communities.
Specific Tasks:
Supporting workshops
Developing sustained relationships with other NGO’s and groups
Research on certain community issues
Assist in developing projects
Strong interest in working with marginalized communities
Good verbal and communication skills
Excellent writing and interpersonal Skills
Marketing and PR Intern
The Marketing/Public Relations intern will work on marketing and PR activities.This internship will provide the intern with valuable, real-world experience in corporate fundraising for a non-for profit organization. Social media marketing is also going to be a major part of the work.
Specific Tasks:
Maintain a database of companies and analyze market trends
Conduct research on projects related to children and young people
Develop sponsorship proposals
Provide support to social media marketing and press
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Sound interest in social marketing
Major in Business or Marketing is preferred
Confident, Self Motivated, Pro-active
Film Intern
Interns will work with our filmmakers and Festival Committee on selection of the films for 2014 Lahore International Children’s Film Festival. They will also support to deliver on-going projects in film, or even develop new projects. They will also support filmmaking workshops with children and young people.
Depending on your interest, you can also learn the following core technical and aesthetic skills of filmmaking; research, production coordination, basic editing and camera work etc.
Specific Tasks:
Learn hands-on experience with a professional filmmaker
Understanding how to develop a film festival
Develop a database of filmmakers
Assist in the film making workshop
Should have interest in Filmmaking
Major in Film & Media
Confident, Self-Motivated, Pro-active.
Basic knowledge of Adobe Photoshop/Premier is a must
Theater Intern
Interns will be engaged in theater workshops and training with children and young people, teachers and youth. Some of the workshops use theater as a process of healing, transformation, psychosocial development and personality grooming of the children and youth.
If possible, interns will also be engaged in a theater production during summers.
Specific Tasks:
Assist in developing programs and theater workshops
Maintain close coordination with partners and workshop participants
Compile reports and database of the activities
Conduct research and assessment of the programs
Previous interest in theater
A passion for theater and performing arts
Theater or film major
Past volunteer experience in the arts
Graphic Design Intern
Interns will be engaged in developing designs and graphics, which can be used in various projects. We would like experiments, and design is one of our major fields for experimenting with ideas. The work will not only include making designs for project campaigns, but also include developing graphic design projects for children and young people.
Specific Tasks:
Designing of festival brochures, flyers, tickets, special invites
Produce graphics for website and social media
Designing of e-Newsletters
Develop graphic design based projects
A degree in graphic design and portfolio
Avid interest in graphic design
Good aesthetic skill set
A strong knowledge in design software like Photoshop, Illustrator, In-Design, Freehand
Photography Intern
Photography Interns will have opportunities to conduct experimental shots of our events and workshops during summer. Our photographers will also lead the interns to develop their skills in live-action photography. Interns will also be engaged in the project Snap Story, a photography project that The Little Art is in the process of launching.
Specific Tasks:
Assist with the visual documentation of the projects
Support in conducting photography workshop
Assist in research and assessment of the workshop
Developing new projects in photography for children and young people
An interest in photography
Ability to work independently as required
Familiarity with digital photography and post-production
Knowledge/Experience of Adobe Photoshop/ Light Room preferred
Please note that all the internship positions are unpaid. We expect that students shall volunteer for non-profit, social organizations of their interest for social good. The purpose shall remain only the mission or the vision, rather then any incentives attached.
