The 11th International Children’s Film Festival (LICFF) came to an end on Sunday, 6th October at Cinepax Cinema, Packages Mall, Lahore.

The festival, which continued for a week, featured films made by children from around the world. The jury panel consisted of Ali Ijaz – acknowledged Documentary Filmmaker and teacher of Filmmaking at Institute of Arts and Culture, Lahore, Tazeen Bari – Acknowledged Documentary Filmmaker and founding member of the Documentary Association of Pakistan, Wajiha Rizvi – acknowledged Documentary filmmaker and associate professor at Beaconhouse National University, Lahore and Dr. Asghar Nadeem Syed, acknowledged playwright, TV Drama serial writer and poet.

It was with a heavy heart, but a lot of new learning that we bid farewell to this year’s enthusiastic audience in Lahore, who very loyally kept storming in to watch the amazing films from all around the world.

Be it the children trying to copy Zog the dragon’s rawr, experiencing Kitwana’s journey of reuniting with his family after being a victim of human trafficking (the worst of child abuse), getting inspired by Shumail and her father supporting her in riding a bike, going along with Stella’s journey to space, or learning to save a friend as Super Booba does, every film was received with positive learning and fun-filled entertainment by the children, teachers and parents.

The festival’s opening ceremony was conducted on 27th September in Faletti’s Hotel, Lahore. It was attended by Chief Guest Mian Aslam Iqbal, Minister of Industries, Commerce and Investment, Information, Punjab. The ceremony was also graced by special guests Pir Saad – Director Cinepax, Saira Tahir – Chairperson The Trust School, Salima Hashmi – acclaimed writer, artist, teacher and Faiz Foundation Trustee, Jeevan Nadana Kumar – Third Secretary and leader Human Rights work at Australian High Commission, Saadaan Peerzada – CEO Rafi Peer Theatre Workshop. The honorable festival jury was also present in the ceremony.

We thank the parents, teachers and children for constantly believing in us, our partners for their constant support, media for helping us raise awareness, our volunteers for managing everything with great expertise, and everyone else for spreading the word.

This year, the festival showcases 116 films selected from 27 countries, including those made by young Pakistani filmmakers. With the Lahore edition now over, LICFF will be traveling to Karachi (28th October – 3rd November), Faisalabad (11th – 13th November), Bhakkar (18th – 19th November), Gujranwala (25th – 29th November), and Jamshoro (25th – 27th February, 2020).
